Abstracte Schilderijen
I was born in Eindhoven (1969) and I paint intensively. Even though I also make figurative art, I prefer creating art in an expressive style that shows atmosphere and emotions.
A painting should express something personal; your feelings and how you come across.Abstract painting is being expressive; to be free to try something new without borders, but with the knowlegde and feeling voor composition and colours.
I go through several phases while creating a new painting. I need to trust that the image I visualized in my head will be translated on to canvas with the use of colours, shapes and details. The fact that my hands can create a whole new world gives me tremendous joy.
During this first phase I may get other ideas of what the image needs to look like or the paint doesn’t react in the way I expected it to. This is the point where I learn to accept the process that takes place in front of me.
Often artists are asked where their inspiration comes from. Most of my inspiration comes while meditating or just before falling asleep. These are often beautiful moments during which I see lots and lots of colours.
My art is best described as spiritual, transcendent and mysterious.
For a while I worked with watercolour, but it lacked the powerful colours, glow and structure I was looking for. After that I started working with oil paint which suits me perfect. I started experimenting with Artisan and got hooked on it from day one; the effects; the transpiration; the atmosphere of the colours.
Over the years I learnt a lot - not only about the use of colours, but also about composition and rhythm. These are all important elements in a painting. The subject of the painting depends on these elements.
I hope you'll enjoy my work, warm regards,
Helma
